What has changed in each version of WePrintEasy.
Version 1.0.3
First public release.
Assign and enforce
- Fixed default printer per Active Directory user or group; groups with priority, nested groups are taken into account.
- Order: direct user assignment → group assignment with the smallest priority → no change.
- Assignments are stored with the SID – renaming users or groups is not a problem.
- Logon agent as a scheduled task (triggers: logon and RDP reconnect), invisible in the user’s context; at most one instance per session.
- Logon phase: checks every 3 seconds for 120 seconds; optional monitoring for the whole session (default: every 30 seconds).
- Turns off “Let Windows manage my default printer” per user; optional RDS policy
fForceClientLptDef = 0. - Connects missing network printers (
\\server\share) automatically. - Supports network printers, local printers and redirected client printers with wildcards.
- Default printer read and set via the Windows API (
GetDefaultPrinter/SetDefaultPrinter), so it is correct in RDP sessions too.

- Setup wizard, admin console, installer, updater and agent log in English and German.
- The setup wizard asks for the language first (default: English); installer parameter

- Own app icon for all windows and the shortcut.
